She lived out her days exploring her own thoughts and emotions, giving them full reign. Feeling no obligation to please anybody unless the pleasure pleased her.

Hey, y’all! My name is Takia and I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker in Massachusetts. I received a Bachelor of Science degree as a double major in Business Management & Entrepreneurship and Womxn’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from the University of Massachusetts - Boston. My Master of Social Work degree is from Boston College with a focus on clinical mental health. Since then, I have also earned certificates in Trauma, Narrative Therapy, Decolonizing Therapy for Black Folks, Mindful Resilience for Trauma Recovery, and Somatic Abolitionism.

If you have ever been to a therapist, and still felt like you had to keep parts of yourself to yourself, I understand. It can be difficult finding the person that gets you (being seen, heard, and understood) as it relates to one’s mental health. In the spaces I hold, it is imperative that we build rapport from a genuine and authentic place, so we can get into the deeper work that may be necessary. Holding back does not have to be an option. I pride myself on my ability to be a container, maintaining an environment that supports the client’s healing and growth. Together we will collaborate on what is in your best interest.

Under the umbrella of my clinical expertise, my focus lies within the direct and indirect experiences of Black girls, Womxn, and gender expansive individuals, as well as veterans & military families managing a wide array of circumstances. Some of my specialties include tackling the effects of white body supremacy culture, anti-Black racism, racial, gender, and cultural identity & trauma and the Body, among other concerns. Additionally, I often help with recognizing the ways in which multiple identities and the varying roles folx occupy influence their individual, familial, and communal experiences. I deeply believe in the capacity of each person to experience healing and liberation within their chosen communities.

Many of us know who the great Malcolm X described as the most disrespected, unprotected, and neglected person in America. My work ensures that the Black Femme in all their brilliance and glory feels the respect, protection, and centering that we each deserve.

A few of my favorite pastimes include reading books highlighting radical Black Womanist/Feminist Thought, enjoying coffee madness ice cream on bright sunshiny days, and spending time loving on my family and friends!

Currently Takia sees Cigna insured and private pay clients only.
