Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is courage to continue that counts.

My name is Vaniah Monteiro, and I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker here in Massachusetts. I identify as a Cape-Verdean American Woman and am bi-lingual, (speaking English and Cape Verdean Creole).  I attended Bridgewater State University where I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work. I value the use of strength based and trauma informed approaches in my work. As a clinician, I use a variety of different modalities, personalizing my approach according to each individual, as everyone is unique in their needs, and I am a firm believer of person-centered approaches. The past couple of years I’ve experienced working with the adolescent to young adult population, serving marginalized individuals with the mission of supporting youth and families in overcoming trauma and other barriers that stemmed from poverty, discrimination, educational disadvantages, violence, and other forms of adversity, right in my very own hometown. My own life experiences as a minority have given me the passion to serve marginalized individuals. This opportunity to give back to my community and/or diverse individuals like myself, is a blessing.

For fun I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring nature through activities such as sight-seeing, nature walks through trails, taking spontaneous road trips and other adventures as such. Fun fact: I’ve hiked in Hawaii, New Hampshire, Vermont and North Carolina, which was my favorite experience.

Vaniah currently takes BCBS, Cigna, and Open Path clients.
